The most important question you will ever answer is this: Where will you spend eternity? The Bible makes it clear that each of us will spend eternity either in heaven with God or in hell, separated from Him forever. The good news is that God has provided a way for you to be saved and know for sure that you have eternal life.
1. We Are All Sinners
The Bible says that every person has sinned. Sin is anything we do that goes against God’s perfect standard.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
— Romans 3:23
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.”
— Romans 3:10
2. The Penalty for Sin Is Death
Because God is just, sin must be punished. The punishment is death and eternal separation from God in hell.
For the wages of sin is death…
— Romans 6:23a
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
— Revelation 20:15
3. Jesus Christ Paid for Our Sins
God loves you so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to take your punishment. Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and rose again, defeating sin and death!
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
— Romans 5:8
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
— Romans 6:23
4. Salvation Is a Free Gift—Receive It by Faith
You cannot earn salvation by good works, church attendance, or baptism. It is a free gift from God that must be received by faith alone in Jesus Christ.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
— Ephesians 2:8-9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
— Romans 10:9
5. Call Upon the Lord and Be Saved
God promises that anyone who sincerely believes in Jesus and calls upon Him for salvation will be saved.
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
— Romans 10:13
Will You Accept Jesus Christ as Your Saviour Today?
If you believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose again, you can receive Him as your Saviour right now. Simply repent of your sins and place your faith in Christ alone for salvation.
You may express your faith to God in prayer like this:
Dear Lord,
I know that I am a sinner and that I deserve punishment. But I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose again.
Right now, I trust Him alone as my Saviour.
Please forgive me and give me eternal life.
Thank You for Your love and salvation.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Did You Trust Christ Today?
If you prayed that prayer and sincerely meant it, the Bible promises that you are now a child of God!
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
— John 6:47
